Proverbs 11:3 “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.
Proverbs 12:16 “A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult.”
If we can embrace this verse and truly place our faith in its powerful message; how freeing would that be? To know that as long as we live with integrity, those who don’t will be their own undoing. We don’t need to waste our energy or allow our focus to be shifted; simply live with honor and integrity.
Think of the last person that lied to you or about you. Your jaw tightens, your heart beats faster, and adrenaline starts pumping… Why? Yes, it is frustration and annoying – even painful. But if you are a person of honor and integrity, the truth will be known.
If we are honest with ourselves, the source of your anger is a sense of injustice. You feel slighted and you want justice. However, we know our sense of justice itself is unjust. The matter and the transgression is between that person and God – we must simply turn it over and forgive. You don’t have to forget or continue to subject yourself to the transgressions – but you must forgive.
Easier said than done? Absolutely! But if we are mindful of this premise, we can begin the process… one step at a time.
