"People who struggle to spend time with God don't have a scheduling problem; they have a love problem." -Experiencing Godby Henry and Richard Blackaby
I am working through an "Iron man" discipleship at church, as part of this curriculum we have to read the book Experiencing God. The book has daily lessons, each takes about 30 minutes. I am in my third week of the study and the impact is already amazing.
A couple days ago I read the sentence above and felt a huge conviction in my life. How do we know the things someone values in their life? - It is typically where they spend their time. Is my relationship with God more important than watching that old television rerun, Sports Center, or some other activity I have in my life? A simple priority adjustment, making my relationship with God a priority will greatly improve my relationship with him. It is a simple concept - We do it when we are dating or when we are trying to stay healthy (30 to 60 minutes in a gym), why can't we approach our spiritual relationship in the same manner?
Before we complain that God is not there, or God is not listening, we might want to look at our heart. He might already be at the restaurant waiting on us to show up for our date!
