Ephesians 4:26-27 "In your anger do not sin; Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold."
When we allow issues to remain unresolved in our lives, we can quickly find ourselves in a vicious and destructive cycle. We start to dwell and obsess about things, we convince ourselves that our perceptions and feelings are in fact the "only reality". The mind is an amazing thing, we can convince ourselves of anything if we are given enough time.
Think about a time you tried to sleep when you were angry with someone - besides not getting quality sleep - you sometimes have vindictive dreams, wake up angry, or it just simply eats at you. All of these things allow the devil to have a way distract your life - instead of hearing God you are distracted by revenge and anger. How much more freeing is it when you can talk things out, say you are sorry or simply agree to disagree, but put an end to the drama.
Each day has enough drama of its own, we do not need to add to it by letting the unresolved issues of yesterday ruin the promise of today.
