Ephesians 4:17-19 "So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more."
This was written almost 2000 years ago and it is still so true today. Look at society and the things we embrace and are constantly exposed to. We, as Christians, are not called to simply blend in - in fact we are called to be a light to the world.
The other night I was flipping through the television channels and too notice of the number of reality television shows based on sex, greed, and scandal. It was staggering, people are never satisfied. One can never have enough money, power, sex, etc. Still reflecting, I turned to the news... Does anything good happen anymore? Do we really need to know that Tiger Woods had several affairs and why do we clamor for the details?
This verse was a warning then and is still a warning today...
