God Help Me to...
How many times have we started a prayer this way? The other night I caught myself praying like this and a huge red flag went up and I began to think. Whose will am I following or submitting to when I pray like that? Am I really humbling myself and putting my faith in God, or am I trying to tell God where I need fixing?
There is some merit in acknowledging our short comings to God and recognizing our weaknesses… I guess my thoughts are more along the lines of, “Do we need God’s Help? Or, do we need Him to just change us?” The second option is most likely the one needed, but it requires a much greater level of submission. I have found that far too often I pray for the symptoms and never really want to change or identify the source – I believe God wants to fix the source. God works on the heart. A simple change of heart can have more of an impact than we can imagine and a simple shift can radically change our lives and the lives of others.
Just something to think about…
"I have found that far too often I pray for the symptoms and never really want to change or identify the source"
Hmm, isn't that the truth.
Thanks for the post.
God Bless
