Proverbs 10:25 "When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever."
We all face storms in our lives, some more intense than others. There is a season for everything and I believe that these storms are necessary in our lives. We often become complacent or far too comfortable in our situation, we lower our standards and begin to compromise our beliefs and principles. This is a dangerous time in our lives, storms are designed to bring us out of our comfort zone.
God allows us to be swept up in the storm. As our world is spinning around us, we are like a large tree being taxed to our perceived limits. As long as the tree is firmly rooted it will endure. Some of the dead or weak branches will be lost to the storm but the tree itself survives. Once the storm passes the rebuilding and healing begins, and like the tree we grow stronger through our trials.
Most of the time, after the storm has passed, we gain a new or clearer perspective of things; see things in a way that was not possible before. When we are in the midst of the chaos we can only see what is immediately in front of us, that is when we must hold firm to God and trust Him to bring us through. We may not understand why things are happening at the time, though once we reach the other side we know we are better because we endured.
