I found the above story and could not believe what I was reading. A group that had been active in the area, helping underprivileged children is turned away because they refer to God. Some people may argue that the group could still help the children just leave God out of it, no big deal right? This is a group of Christians, their faith is one of the pillars of their being, it is who they are.
In today's "PC" society how do you think it a policy stating that you can help kids, or do whatever, but do not be openly homosexual? Could you imagine the headlines? The ACLU would be salivating to sue and make an example out of whomever chose to try to enforce such a policy. Everyone preaches equality, but they only want equality when it is for something that benefits them or something they agree with. It seems that too often in today's United States that we keep trying to minimize God in our culture, almost trying to force churches underground. There are several places that have succeeded in forcing Christianity underground; China, the former Soviet Union, North Korea, Iraq, Iran, and even Nazi Germany, at its height) set out to destroy Christianity.
I think it is sadly reality that as we distance ourselves from tragic events we turn our backs on God. How easy it is to cry out to God when things go wrong, but it seems even easier to walk away and reject God once we start to become numb to the pain. The picture above is one of thousands that were all over the country immediately after September 11, 2001. America was shaken to its core; people prayed, mourned, and the words "God bless..." seemed to have meaning. How soon we forget...
