Isaiah 64:4-5 "Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways."
We have all been through trials in our lives, many times we feel abandoned and alone. This verse encourages us to wait and gladly follow God's will. Often when we pray we want instant gratification, after all society has instilled in us that we do not have to wait for anything. We wait until the world is closing in around us and want to call time out and use a lifeline. Those are the times we choose to pray, "God, hey it's me again. Yeah I know it has been a while but I am really in a jam this time. If you get me through this I'll...." We try to barter with God, only thing is that he already owns everything. He simply wants us to open our hearts to him and to have a relationship with him. Waiting on god is an act of submission to his will. The other key word in this verse is "gladly". He requires are hearts be in the right place too. Sometimes we do not hear God because are hearts are not in tune with his will.
We all take time to pray when times are tough... How often do you talk to God when things are going well?
