Living in California during the last elections people were constantly bombarded by "Prop 8". It seems like ever where you looked there were people expressing their opinions on the issue, granted that is the "American Way". However, since the election results came in the issue has been even more in the headlines than ever.
During the elections supporters of Prop 8 alleged that there was a movement to introduce homosexuality into the public school curriculum, something the opponents of Prop 8 called a lie. There were even politicians from San Fransisco that made commercials to "set the record straight".
The most disturbing part of this article, is the fact that parents can not have their children leave the classroom during the class - well that and the fact that the material would be taught to five year olds. I remember in school when sexual education was being taught the parents were notified prior and were allowed to have their children leave the classroom during this time.
I have my own personal convictions and beliefs on this issue, but I think somewhere we missed something. When did tolerance change from "agreeing to disagree" to having to condone or even support something? It is ironic that the people screaming for tolerance are the ones that viciously attack others and want to force their opinions or lifestyle on everyone - think I am wrong? - Look at Ms. California, really read her answer - she was asked her opinion and she gave it. She did not attack anyone, she stated her beliefs and was viciously attacked for it. Makes you wonder...
