Many people suffer from depression, but few realize it and even fewer seek help. Most people assume that they can just get over it or that it is not a big deal, though inside they are dying, feeling helpless and crazy all at the same time. They lose their will to do the things they would "normally" love, they seem to have dulled all their senses, and sometimes do not see the value in living. Depression is a vicious cycle that can continue to pull a person deeper into its depths - the depressed person will have decreased energy, want to sleep more, and generally want to be alone. When a person suffering from depression isolates themselves they only have their distorted perception of reality to draw from. Thus starts the downward spiral. I have posted some links below, if you are depressed or are dealing with someone who is depressed, arming yourself with knowledge and understanding is the first step in a difficult journey. There is nothing to be ashamed of if you are suffering from depression, but you have to realize that it is impossible to just "snap out of it", it takes time. Though never forget, life is worth living and things will get better. We all need help sometimes, after-all God created us as social beings - we need others, isolation is not a solution.
