I think every parent fears failure... From the time our children are born we have one simple prayer, "God don't let me screw them up too bad!" I look around and can not help but be saddened by "parents" who appear to not have their children as a priority. To paraphrase Chris Rock, they are not saving college money, they are saving bail money! (or counseling). I am not condemning anyone, things happen, but I think it is unfortunate that people sometimes put themselves ahead of their children. Babies do not ask to be born, people take certain steps and certain decisions to create them - they should not suffer needlessly for our actions. I am sure that people look at my parenting skills and scratch their head and I am not claiming to be perfect. I am trying to do the best I can and learn from my mistakes. I guess I am simply saying, that we need to recognize our children for the gift they are and treasure the time that we have with them.
...I often find myself watching my daughters sleep and wonder what they are dreaming about and then they stir and reach out to touch my arm. I guess I am still on the right track.
